How to use the Image Converter

  1. Add one or more JPG, PNG or WebP images.
  2. Choose the output format — JPG, PNG or WebP — and set the quality if you are converting to JPG or WebP.
  3. Review the previews and file sizes.
  4. Download each image, or download everything as a ZIP.

JPG, PNG or WebP — what is the difference?

JPG is the classic format for photographs: small files, no transparency. PNG is lossless and supports transparent backgrounds, which makes it perfect for logos, icons and screenshots, but its files are bigger. WebP is a modern format that offers both transparency and smaller files than either of the others, and it works in every current browser.

When you convert a transparent PNG or WebP to JPG, the transparent areas are filled with white because JPG cannot store transparency.

Ideas & examples

  • WebP to JPG: Got a WebP download that your editor or printer will not open? Convert it to JPG and it works everywhere.
  • PNG to WebP: Convert a folder of PNG graphics to WebP to cut page weight dramatically while keeping transparency.
  • JPG to PNG: Need a lossless copy for editing? Convert to PNG so no further quality is lost when you save again.

Frequently asked questions

Is converting images free?

Yes, always. There are no limits on how many times you use it and nothing to install.

Can I convert many images at once?

Yes. Add up to 30 files, convert them together and download them all as one ZIP.

Do my files leave my device?

No. Conversion is done locally in your browser, so your images are never uploaded.

Why did my transparent background turn white?

JPG does not support transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Choose PNG or WebP to keep transparency.

Does converting change image quality?

Converting to PNG is lossless. JPG and WebP are lossy; keep the quality slider high (85–95) for the best-looking results.
