Age Calculator — Calculate Your Exact Age Online

Enter a date of birth and discover your exact age in years, months and days, how many days you have been alive and how long until your next birthday. You can also calculate the age on any other date, such as a school cut-off or a future milestone.

How to use the Age Calculator

  1. Enter the date of birth.
  2. Leave “Age at” on today’s date, or choose another date to calculate age on that day.
  3. Press Calculate.
  4. Read your exact age, total days, weeks and hours lived, and the countdown to your next birthday.

How age is calculated

Your age in whole years increases on each birthday. The remaining months and days are counted from your most recent monthly anniversary, which is the way people naturally describe age: “32 years, 4 months and 11 days”.

People born on 29 February have a birthday only in leap years. In other years this calculator treats 28 February as the day before their birthday and shows the next birthday on 1 March, a common convention in many countries.

Why exact age is useful

Exact age matters for school admission cut-off dates, sports age groups, insurance and pension planning, visa and legal requirements, and for fun — like finding out when you will reach your 10,000th day alive.

Ideas & examples

  • 10,000 days alive: Enter your birth date and look at the total days lived. At 10,000 days you are about 27 years and 4 months old.
  • School cut-off: Set “Age at” to 1 September to see how old a child will be on the first day of the school year.
  • Birthday countdown: See how many days remain until the next birthday and which day of the week it falls on.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the age calculator?

It is exact. It uses real calendar months and handles leap years, so the years, months and days add up correctly.

Can I calculate age on a past or future date?

Yes. Change the “Age at” date to any day to find out how old someone was or will be on that date.

Do you store my date of birth?

No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is sent or saved.

What if I was born on 29 February?

The calculator handles leap-day birthdays and shows your next birthday on 29 February in leap years and 1 March otherwise.

Does it work for any date of birth?

Yes, for any past date up to today (or the “Age at” date you choose).
